In typical fashion, Guts felt that it was time to move on, despite his success and friendships. Members of the Hawks attempted to stop him, to no avail, until Griffith himself reminded Guts that his life was forfeit, and that again he must fight if he wishes to leave.

Everyone realized the truth: the Band of the Hawk would never be the same as it was. As they pondered their future, Griffith, in a horse wagon, managed to crawl towards the front, and he startled the horses forward. By the time anyone had realized where he went, it was too late. The Eclipse had already begun.
